Pause for the Cause song to get us started – ...
From the Album A New Day Yesterday this is "I Know Where I Belong" - Joe Bonamassa.
Some great guitar licks there from mr. Joe B.  My friend Chip and I were discussing music recently on a text and I told him that I would play some of my favorite Joe cuts on the next podcast...
So more Bonamassa to come Brother!
Wise Words – "Never See Yourself as a Failure.  After all, you probably started out as a back rub and look how far you've come!" - FB Post - Thanx Oz
I was sorry to see one of our old friends had passed away.  We were in Boy Scouts together.  His dad was actually our Troop Leader.  I have a funny story from Boy Scout Camp that I will share another time.  Great memories.  A legend in our lifetime...RIP Jay Busby

A few weeks back I was out doing a little bit of shopping at the only Guitar Store I go to and that's Big Island Guitar.
While we were there I got a chance to sit and talk with Spencer who is not only a local musician, but he and his wife own and operate Big Island Guitar.  Here's the Interview with Spencer.   (video on the Vodcast).
Thanks to Laura and Spencer for allowing us to visit that day.  We have been enjoying the cajon.  Getting set for some lessons soon.
His band website again is - Beyond Paradise  the Band . com
Pause for the Cause –
From the Album Dust Bowl this is title track "Dust Bowl" - Joe Bonamassa.  Chip I like this one because he makes reference to my whiskey of choice, Crown Royal.
Someone called me one day at the Radio station where I was working at the time and asked me, "Who is this Joe Bonamassa guy?...why have I never heard him before??"  I told him "I just learned of him from a PBS Special and started to follow him".  What I would find out later is that Joe had been around for a long time.  Even a few of my Musician friends had played with him on several occasions.  Hell Wes Jeans spent the night at my house one night and we sat up talking about many different guitar players and he said "Shoot, I taught Joe how to use a microphone correctly when we were kids,  he was a great player then, but he didn't have it all together yet, not like he does now!!".
More JB on the way!
Learning As I Grow! - Harvest Time
It's that time again.  Harvest.  Some people have a misunderstanding about how this plant works.
First, it's a baby seedling that slowly develops into a full-size plant during the vegetative stage.  This time period varies from strain to strain but a general rule is 6-8 weeks or more of veg time.
Next comes the Flowering Phase.  Again, depending on the strain and the growing conditions this can vary.  As short as 6 or 7 weeks to even as long as 12 or more.
Clearly if we are discussing an "Outdoor Grow" then it's up to mother nature.  Your vegetative phase will end and flowering will begin when the sunlight goes 12 and 12.
Of course there are exceptions to every exception.
Auto Flower strains have different time schedules.  The girls that are ready for harvest are just that Auto.
These girls grow fast and start to flower on their own with no change in light schedule.
I had a small bit of Botrytis (grey mold) show up on one of my colas (buds), so I cut that portion off the plant and then decided best to go ahead and harvest her.
In the Vodcast you can see the new Dry Box that is currently dehydrating the buds and getting them ready to be jarred!
Purple Power is the strain being dried currently so let's look at a few of her features.
Next on the schedule in a few days we will harvest Light of Jah.
Last on the list, if all goes well is Amnesia Trance -
In June and July we will have updates on the Afghan strain that is currently in the first few weeks of flowering.  This is not an Auto strain and I expect her to finish out around the first week of July.  8-9 weeks is expected and they got flipped on the first of the month.
Pause for the Cause –
From the Album Sloe Gin this is "One of These Days" - Joe Bonamassa with Alvin Lee.
I got to see Joe in Grand Prairie at the Verizon Center.  Nice theater, especially on the 3rd row.  We had great seats that night.  It was not just the first time I had ever seen him live, it was also another first for me...more on that in a few.

Pause for the Cause –
From the Album An Acoustic Evening this is "Slow Train" - Joe Bonamassa.
Another first for me that night was - Joe was the opening act.  He came out and did a 45 min Acoustic set, then after a quick break, he plugged in with the full band and did another couple of hours.  I have been to hundreds of show is my life, never had I seen anyone Open for themself!.  It was an amazing night.  I had a T-Shirt to prove it, but it got stolen on the move here to Hawaii..., still processing that, I know I gotta let it go, but it still comes up when I think about all my t-shirts that ....maybe i should talk to my Dr. more about this...
Talking Saves Lives:
A funny side note - I was talking, actually Video Chatting with my Dr. today about different things going on, (She's my "Talk To" Dr.).  She was discussing some new options with the VA's New Whole Health approach.  While describing some of the activities available on Oahu, she also mentioned a few online video options.  Accidently she said Acupuncture, to which I instantly had to interject as she caught her mistake.
"Video chat -Self/ Acupuncture is not going to work very well!!!"
I remind myself as well as everyone who listens – talking saves lives.
It takes courage to talk.  It takes strength to talk.  Having problems doesn’t make you weak.  Everyone has problems.  Talking will help.
Remember that your thoughts are just thoughts.  You can change your thoughts.
As we end this month of Mental Health Awareness (May), I am continually reminded of the importance of talking.
